HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS FOR BUDS
To get ready for the Nov 2 Buds meeting there are a couple of quick experiments to do right now to follow up on our last lesson on seeds. We got to see all sizes and shapes, even some "extinct" ones! We had tons of them, eh??
(if the pic will imbed it goes here) And Look at this seed pod - do you know what plant it is on? And do you know what is on this plant eating??
Seed Sock Search: put an old sock over your shoe and walk around your yard, empty lot, woods next door... What kind of "hitchhiker" seeds have you collected? How many different kinds? Can you identify any of the plants they came from? Can you get a photo on the phone and send it to me to share? Ask your folks...
Then you can also try this one -
Initial Leaves: fold a piece of dark construction paper into a rectangle about 1"x2". Cut your first name initial out of the paper, leaving some of the fold side uncut. Slip the paper over a large plant leaf in your yard. The fold side will be on the edge of the leaf. Use tape or a paper clip to attach it. Leave it on the leaf til the next class, and then take the paper off. Can you see a difference? Take a pic to show us! Why would it look different? It's okay if you don't know - we'll be talking about that in November!
