HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS FOR BUDS
Be collecting flowers and pressing them February and March. (See pressing details below). We will use these flowers in the lighted window we will make for the Plant Sale. This item will be spectacular. Ms. Billie will be leading us in the project. The window will have a mountain seen all made with pressed flowers. We will take donations for a chance to win this window. A special work day will be scheduled to create this gorgeous art piece.
Directions for collection:
_go hunting in your yard or woods for flowers of all colors. Even now there are tiny
little flowers starting to bloom
-Valentines is coming up, ask folks for their flowers before they toss them (if not
completely dead)
Directions for pressing (Thanks Billie):
-take a book (just not your best book in case you forget the flowers in there...think
moldy), paper towels/paper/tissue, and flowers
-open your book, lay down a sheet of paper towel/paper/tissue and cover with your
flowers (bottoms up)
-leave a little space between each flower for airflow
-put another sheet of paper towel/paper/tissue on top of the flowers and close the
book.
-you can do this all through out the book, leaving a few pages between each set
-put heavy weight on top of the book (other books work great)
-change the papers every two to three days (or mold will begin)
-should be dried and pressed in about two weeks
-pull out and store safely to bring to our workday
